El X Simposio SOLCHA será del 5 al 9 de julio de 2021
La Sociedad Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Historia Ambiental (SOLCHA) promueve el intercambio y divulgación de investigaciones sobre historia ambiental en América Latina y el Caribe. En su X Simposio 2021, organizado por el Departamento de Antropología, Historia y Humanidades de FLACSO Ecuador, daremos continuidad a la tradición de reunir a historiadores y académicos de diferentes regiones, para debatir las variadas dimensiones de las relaciones entre sociedad y naturaleza.
Se dialogará sobre temas consolidados en SOLCHA, como historia del agua, ciudades, metabolismo social, ideas y prácticas de conservación e imaginarios de la naturaleza. También sobre temas menos explorados, como las fronteras internas, tropicalidad, articulaciones con la ciencia, o historia ambiental antes de la conquista.
El X SOLCHA contará con aproximadamente 400 ponentes que participarán en 4 conferencias magistrales, 46 mesas de discusión, 12 lanzamientos de libros y presentación de posters. Ya está disponible el programa preliminar para su revisión. Por la pandemia de covid, el evento será en modalidad virtual.
Es posible el registro sin costo para asistentes sin ponencia. Esto dará acceso a todas las mesas y lanzamientos de libros. Las conferencias serán transmitidas, además, a través de Facebook Live y YouTube. Se pueden seguir las novedades sobre el evento en las siguientes redes sociales:

The X SOLCHA Symposium will be from July 5 to 9, 2021
The Latin American and Caribbean Society of Environmental History (SOLCHA) promotes the exchange and dissemination of research on environmental history in Latin America and the Caribbean. In its X Symposium 2021, organized by the Department of Anthropology, History and Humanities of FLACSO Ecuador, we will continue the tradition of bringing together historians and academics from different regions, to debate the various dimensions of the relationships between society and nature.
There will be a dialogue on topics consolidated in SOLCHA, such as the history of water, cities, social metabolism, ideas and practices of conservation and imaginaries of nature. Also on less explored topics, such as internal borders, tropicality, articulations with science, or environmental history before the european Conquest.
The X SOLCHA will have approximately 400 speakers who will participate in 4 keynote conferences, 46 round tables, 12 book launches and poster presentations. The preliminary program is now available for your review. Due to the covid pandemic, the event will be in virtual mode.
