Abstract

This essay contains observations and lessons learned about approaches and sources related to environmental history. I reexamine a few texts in which I dealt with both topics, but I add a number of unpublished considerations. I could argue that I deal with methodological matters of environmental history. However, it is more appropriate to state that I deal with approaches and sources, because I am not a trained historian and am not prone to high level methodological digressions. I present further comments on pertinent points that I wrote about in previously published texts produced at separate times and with different goals, trying to place them in an easily understood order. I have also added new reflections on several matters of environmental history. My goal is to provide more detailed answers to questions that have been made to me over the years and to which I responded only orally. I believe these answers can be useful for researchers of environmental history, experienced or beginners.
